Good career choice.
2 :
to become a pharmacist (the one with the PhD) it's a 6 year program. a tech is less its prolly 2 years at most to be a pharmacist you need your doctorate of pharmacy
3 :
If you want to get a bachelor's degree before going to pharmacy school, it will be 4 years and 4 years in pharmacy school to give you both a bachelor's degree and doctor of pharmacy degree. However, if you just want the degree of doctor of pharmacy, the majority of schools in the United States, require a minimum of 2 years undergrad, to complete pre-pharmacy courses, and 4 years of pharmacy school, so it will take minimum 6 years for most schools receive doctor of pharmacy degree. There are several schools that have a 5-year program of pharmacy, where their program is only 3 years.

About I need information about a job in Nursing

I need information about a job in Nursing?
I am thinking about switching my Computer Science and Engineering degree over to Nursing. I am a freshmen at the University of Toledo and recently got a job working for our College Computing area but as the time has gone along I am more and more unsure that I wan to do CSE. I was doing it because I wanted to help people, but now I am thinking that Nursing would be more rewarding for me because I could actually see how I am helping people. I am afraid of the switch because UT has a great engineering program, I would be cutting my salary in half, I would also loose out on an amazing co-op... I need some pros and cons of Nursing (I'm thinking about an RN position) and then I would like to know about the shifts Nurses have to work?
Health Care - 2 Answers

1 :
a nurse does 3 night a week and 3 days yes you work 6 days a week, the night times will either be (in the uk) 6pm-6am or 7pm-7am and mornings start at 6am and you finish at 2pm or you start at 10am and finish at 6pm it all depends on what your qualification is and how much experince you have if you need training you will be given daytime shifts.
2 :
I don't know where the previous responder lives but, I only work three days a week. Yes ...they are 12 hour shifts but, it allows me four days off per week. Because hospitals are having a hard time staffing the units, I can pretty much work as much overtime as I want. When they are really desperate, they offer 'bonus pay' which equates to an extra $15/hour. The pros of nursing are: job security, respect, pay is well, and helping people. I enjoy it because no two shifts are ever the same and the time flies by pretty quick. I have never taken on such a challenge as nursing in my life. The learning never ends. The cons of being an RN are: staffing shortages, aides with a lack of a work-ethic, and the stress of dealing with people at their worst. Emotions run pretty high and not only with the patients but, with their families as well. People are not always nice and you have to always be a professional. I am not the kind of person who can sit at a desk all day; I need to stay busy. Thus, nursing is a good fit for me. I also enjoy using my brain and not simply doing menial tasks. All in all, nursing school was a challenge and the job has its ups and downs but, I would do it all over in a minute. Good luck with whatever you do.

What can you do for the old people where you live? Light housecleaning, carry in groceries, carry out trash, run little errands, walk their dog . . . make up a flyer & put it on everyone's door.
2 :
Ask the "old" people there if they have something you can do. Maybe help with cleaning, repairing simple items, some people even need help changing their light bulbs. What about running errands for them?
3 :
get a paper route or go places for others
4 :
Certainly there are lots of things you can do. Walking dogs, washing cars, running errands, going shopping for them, helping to clean out basements/attics, etc. Start by being nice to some of the old people and explain to them that you are looking to make some money and ask if there is anything that you could do which would help them. And if you start helping some, ask them to tell their freinds. Word of mouth is the most powerful advertisement in the world.

About Recent College Grad Cannot Find Finance Work

Recent College Grad Cannot Find Finance Work?
I just graduated in may and have sent my resume out to several recruiters, several of which dont deal with people like me (little to no experience), i have also been applying to several jobs online via monster and careerbuilder and what not. Well i have not heard back from anyone?!?! I have a masters in financial economics and you ideally like to be a financial analyst in the denver, co area. Is there something i am doing wrong? Any advise as to how i can atleast get a call for an interview? Currently i am in toledo, oh so i cant really be walking into anyplace in denver and all i am doing is basically emailing my resume. Is this not the best of ideas?

Sorry your in this situation. I have some very general suggestions. Have you tried working with the Career Center at your college? They should be able to help. Also try talking to some of your professors. Hopefully you can get some good references from them. Make sure your resume was looked over, corrected, looked over again, corrected, looked over again, and so forth. My career center at school kept suggested corrections on mine until it was perfect. RobertHalf is a company that specializes in placing professionals in Finance and Accounting jobs. I used to work at Ernst & Young and I worked with them to locate my current job as a financial analyst for a public company. Maybe look them up and give them a call. Good luck to you.
2 :
Congrats on finishing up your degree. Nobody can take that away and your education will always stay with you. For the search, start with your career center for polishing the resume and interview skills. Second, you will need to be mobile to find what you are looking for. Go to a bigger city and get after it. Don't worry about making lots of money. Just go for your passion and stick with it for a few years (keeping an eye on graduate school at the same time OR looking for advancement). Lastly, and most importantly, GET A MENTOR. Someone you can respect and trust. Good luck.

I am in the Denver area. I actually work and live in the Denver Tech Center, which has many finance jobs. I recommend you try Smith Barney located on Dry Creek Rd. I have heard from several people they normally hire brokers and financial advisors without any exp. as long as they have a degree. As far as starting pay from what I have heard a couple of years ago from people who work there is around $45k and up, and of course you get your commission and bonuses on top of that. I am just going to give you a list of places you prob. haven't thought of. Money Line (DTC) Chase Bank (DTC) Citi Financial (DTC, loan processor) Any major car dealerships..(Go Toyota, Ralph Schomp, Burt Kuni...etc. These dealerships have very big finance departments that pay very well. Edward Jones (DTC and surrounding areas, financial advisor) IRS (Downtown Denver, accounting) Echostar (Englewood at Inverness, many positions in finance) Of course try monster.com, denver westword, rocky mountain news, jobing.com,and go to all the majors news websites in denver that may help you. You are guranteed to find something in the finance industry here in Denver. Good luck and if you need some help, email me. Personally, I would not try recruiters here in Denver due to bad expereinces. I have also heard success stories so continue to try if you want.

About B.S. in Environmental Science and I cant find a job

B.S. in Environmental Science and I cant find a job!!! Toledo Ohio!!?
I am graduating in a few weeks and have been looking for an entry level job everywhere and not finding anything. The only thing I have found in my area, Toledo Ohio, was a job as a tree care specialist for a company much like chemlawn. (you only need 'some college' for that job). There are no parks hiring for entry level environmental stewarship coordinators, naturalists, or anything. All of the environmental firms want site assesors (which is what i want to do) that are experienced. What would you do? Is there another route to finding a job I can take? I plan to go to graduate school (for geology or related subject) but due to financial problems I need to work for a few years first to help pay off my student loans. HELP?? Does anyone know of related jobs in the Toledo, Ohio area??

It's hard to get jobs right out of college in your field (or any field for that matter). You might need to take the tree care job for a while while you look for something more in line with your career goals and expectations. Have you thought about Government jobs with like the EPA and such?

About what to wear to work during December in Ohio

What to wear to work during December in Ohio ?
Hi , i am based out of Arizona and never been to East during winter. I will be visiting Toledo,Ohio in December 1st week for a week or two on Work purpose. So i would like to know what to wear to work during December in Ohio. Since i am from Arizona ,i have no clue at all about winter wear needed as a sweater / lightweight jacket as an outerwear is all that's needed here for most part. I would really appreciate if i could get complete details like what to wear from head to toe. I would also like to know what to wear ( casual wear ) in Detroit as i am planning a visit there on a weekend. I need advice on formal / work clothes and footwear as well .

Because we are on the shores of Lake Erie, the weather is unpredictable all year round. We usually don't get the heavier snows (8 inches-2 feet) until January into February and sometimes March, the past few years, BUT that does not mean we won't get snow in December. I mean, we got about 3 inches last weekend but it melted the next day. In December it's typically anywhere from 40-25 degrees and about the same at night. Personally, by December I am wearing my goose down coat and gloves. Boots may not be needed if there is little or no snow. You will probably be very cold. Gloves, hat of some sort maybe unless you don't wanna mess up your hair. For sure sweater. Light jacket? You will freeze.
2 :
Your best bet is to call someone at your firm's office in Toledo, or at the client you're visiting, and ask what people wear at that location. Some places keep their offices cooler than other places, so you should ask about that; you might find thermal underwear comfortable, as you're not used to the cold. I'm not certain if you're a man or woman, but for men, good slacks and a good long sleeve shirt should be acceptable. Sweaters are fine. If you're going to wear a suit, a dress overcoat is best, but, as you're traveling, you might get by with a lined raincoat. An overcoat is better if going to dinner with clients and not just commuting to work. You'll want a casual winter-weight coat in any case. A hat and gloves are a necessity if you'll be outside much. Footwear is more tricky, but you definitely want something that is slip resistant on icy/snowy surfaces. WALK and drive carefully and slowly if surfaces are wet, icy, or snowy. Black ice (invisible ice) is especially dangerous early in the winter season. It results from snow thawing and refreezing, creating an thin film of ice on walking surfaces. If you've never fallen on ice, it's shocking how the experience is so unexpected, sudden and violently dangerous. Also salt is used everywhere to melt snow and ice. Some footwear is very good at resisting salt stains (I like LL Bean "ducks" such as their Thinsulate "gumshoes" or even Timberland waterproof shoes). I wear such shoes most places when snow, ice, salt, and even rain are an issue, but you might want to switch to dress footwear once you're inside, especially if you're a woman. Higher boots are needed if you're going to be in deeper snow, and not just walking from a plowed car parking lot inside. You likely will want thermal socks if you're going to spend much time outdoors, even at football stadiums. What to wear in Detroit depends upon where you're going and what you're doing. You might want to ask at the Detroit travel category. BTW, why are you going to Detroit instead of Cleveland? It's a seriously bad choice unless you're set on a particular destination in Detroit, such as the casino. BTW, there are great waterparks in nearby Sandusky. Toledo also has an excellent art museum. It features the famous Glass Pavilion and perhaps the best collection of glass artifacts in the world. Admission is free. Tony Packo's is a Toledo landmark. You also might want to hike along the lake (dress warmly) at Maumee Bay State Park or visit Marblehead, although I'm not certain what Marblehead would be like in winter. BOL!
3 :
Well the weather in Toledo may differ a bit from Cleveland but like the first post said the weather can vary anywhere between 25-40 degrees. Lightweight jacket and December does not equal warm here. Unless you have on layers underneath. If it were me other than checking the projected forecast for my trip a few days before I leave I would pack the following: Long underwear - this is a great way to insure that you will be warm. I would bring a lot of long sleeve shirts and sweaters Warm socks a scarf and hat even. It may be raining or the weather may be a mix of rain and snow so you're going to want to make sure you have the proper coverage. I think I want to stress to you to have on long underwear - this way no matter what you have on - like your work clothing if you have to wear a suit or even if its simple like jeans having that layer on underneath will be keeping you very warm. If your casual I would wear some Timberland's - these are quality boots good to keep your feet warm and dry. If you're dressed for work wearing dress shoes try getting some rubbers for them check out Tote's website for a rubbers for your shoes. Hope you enjoy your time out East.
4 :
Kevlar, especially in Detroit.
5 :
I currently go to school in Toledo and have for the past 4 years. For someone from Arizona, you are going to be COLD! It's MUCH windier then Cleveland (I grew up south of Cleveland), and it's chilly because it's by the lake. It usually doesn't snow by then but that doesn't mean you won't feel the bite of the cold. My guess is somewhere between 20-40 degrees F. On a freak day it might get warmer, and at night it will get colder. Gloves, coats, sweaters, scarves, tights/leggings, boots (especially if it snows)... come prepared. It's easier to take off layers here then it is to warm up! If you're lucky it won't be too bad! Personally as a professional I'd wear a nice scarf, a sweater, a jacket (I have one of those black wool ones that go half way to the knee but they can be expensive if you will only use it once), tights/thicker pants, and nice leather shoes or professional looking boots. Enjoy the fresh cool air!

A winter jacket, hat and gloves for when it gets really cold.
2 :
It does get pretty cold there, I went there in January of last year but it didn't snow, sadly. For me I went in the mountains for a cabin and I got a cold in the first 2 days and you should get some chapstick with your my lips were bleeding. You need turtlenecks because it can get pretty breezy out there and it helps keep you warm. You definitely need something comfortable for a winter jacket so that you dont get annoyed by the thickness or if its to small or something. You do need a hat. You can wear jeans but make sure they are thickish or warm and not lightwieght. You can wear boots or sneakers it doesnt really matter. Hope this helped you.

I'm in Toledo, Ohio. need a car to get a decent job. Bus service is not reliable.?
Presently working for temp services, I need a real job. My car was stolen in November of 2006. It taking a minimum of two hours to get any where in the city on the bus in Toledo, more if it the job is in the suburbs thats way over four hours a day. I don't mind catching the bus, so much, but standing hours in the cold and hot sun for a bus that may or may not come is frightening and dangerous. Just need hand up not a hand out.

Maybe you could call your city phone line and ask if they have a list of people who carpool. Call your friends and family to see if they know anyone who would be willing to carpool. Also if you can afford it buy a used car. Check out Consumer Reports for Used Cars. It is available at your local library or at your local bookstore for ten dollars. I bought my used car this way four years ago and I have not had a problem with it.

About 16. Jobs won't hire you if you are below that age because of laws. But also because of your age you would probably be forced to work part-time. Not all places do that though. Some treat you as a regular employee and leave it up to you say that you need a lighter schedule due to school.

How in the world do I get a part time job in toledo OH?
Well I live in Toledo Ohio and apparently even though I have a 4 year degree, graduated with high honors, it doesn't matter. Was school a total waste of money. I am going to end up back at target at this rate. I have my social work degree and lisence and have only had one contract job. I have been searching for months and am considering one of those "financial advisor" or insurance sales positions where I can at least set my own hours but I can't figure out which ones if any are legit. You might have more luck if you were willing to relocate. Even possibly here in Columbus (Ohio). Guessing.

You didn't waste your time and money. It just depends, are you willing to move??? Or does it have to be in Toledo??? I don't know much about Toledo but I know that jobs(in your field) in Phoenix are always looking for people. I am sure that there are other places in the country as well that are looking for people. So it just depends on where you want to be and where you are willing to go to find the career you are looking for...Good Luck

Look for a career resource at your local College, a Career Coach, Career Group, etc. This will keep you going while you look. First and foremost, you need to change your attitude and determine what you really want to do. ... And yes, working at a "job" while you look for your career, is a good thing to do if that's what you need to do. Maria Marsala http://www.ElevatingYourBusiness.com

Well, I've seen plenty jobs in the 'help wanted' section of the Blade. Have you by chance tried careerbuilder.com, monster.com or hotjobs.com? What exactly do you want to do...because I've seen plenty of social work jobs advertised as well. The insurance sales as well as financial advisors positions...you're going to end up having to pay money to make money, and usually it's going to take some time before you start to make money. I went to an interview once with smith barney or citigroup or something...just not my thing. You need to pay for your training, licenses, etc.

Well, I already know that I will get at least one thumbs down with this answer. You were asking about insurance or "financial advisor".Give some serious consideration to Primerica. A representative with them is both, insurance and an advisor. Insurance happens to be a means to an end and so do the other services that we provide consumers. The main goal is a business. The services are great, but if you would like to be able, after ten years, to not have to put anything in to make money each month, then this is it. It is NOT get rich quick. It takes time, but so does any other business. You work for you and not a boss. Think about it, pray about it. We work for the best interests of our clients. At website below, look for the info about women in Primerica.

You don't indicate if you graduated with you BSW in the Toledo area. If so this is where I would start. I would take your field instructor out for lunch and see if s/he has any recommendations, have they heard of any openings, etc. Use your networking skills. Similarly make contact with some of your professors and other students from your class (especially those who left the area but might still have contacts). Secondly you may need to upgrade your degree to an MSW. Probably not what you want to hear, but with so many BSW programs in the midwest (25 just in OH - and if go to the surrounding states you will go well over 100). It may be that toledo is now at a place where they are able to get MSW's for entry level jobs (check this out with your social work dept and the college placement center). Finally - persistence is always necessary in a job market that is very tight - use all your resources (newspapers, online sources - monster, etc, college placement center, family, friends, etc.) Also take your resume to someone who can help evaluate how you are putting yourself out there. If your market is crowded and they are getting 100+ resumes for a position you need to stand out. DA

Trust me the job search is work by itself! My advice to you is to perfect your resume and maybe submit it to a recruiter that will do the job searching for you. They will get you into interviews with big companies that otherwise may not be available on the job boards. The really good opportunities are usually not on monster or yahoo jobs. The other problem you were having about trying to see which jobs are legit is really a hard thing to do. In my opinion if it looks they are advertising to get you to come in for an interview then it is probably bull.

About how do I get a work permit in Michigan (underage)

How do I get a work permit in Michigan (underage)?
Okay. Well. I want to be able to get a Summer Job, probably at like an American Eagle near Toledo or Adrian or something. I'm fourteen years old, turning 15 in December. My grades are a little on the downside (two are probably F's and one is a D, from what I re-call on my last report card. I think I brought those things up, though.) How would I go about in getting a work permit? I'm honestly confused on how to get one, I heard you get it through the school, but time's running out, since I only have about less than a month of school left. Another question... would my Michigan work permit work in Toledo, Ohio? Thank you. :]

You need a permit from Ohio. You can get it from your school, ask at the principal's office.
