About LOTS of questions law inforcement jobs

LOTS of questions law inforcement jobs!?
ok i am in the 8th grade and I hate not knowing what is out there for law inforcement jobs. I don't want to be a regular police officer so what other types of jobs are there? what are the requierments? What are the college and psyical requirements? At my school I can start taking some college classes setup though the school so I be able to knock off a year of high school AND college THIS IS NOT THE SAME AS DROPPING OUT! I would like to work in Homicide maybe around Clevland, Columbus, Dayton, Toledo,Cinninatti or another big city in or around Ohio. What do you think I should do? I will be almost 19 if I can't GRADUATE a year early from highschool and then allmost 23 when I GRADUATE from college. If you haven't figured out yet I want to start my life as young as possible! What can I do to get myself ready? I was thinking about the Marines but that tacks on 4 years of active duty and I don't know what I could do with the 4 years of Inactive duty maybe college then but they could call me.

Your best bet for one of those CSI T.V. jobs is go to a 4 year and then a academy

It is difficult for someone to advance in the ranks to homicide like you want to. Most have a requirement for having someone start as a "common" police officer and rise in rank from there. If you wanted instead of working homicide cases and wanted to work homicide labs (such as fingerprinting, blood / etc. samples), that would be different. You would be pretty much confined to a lab with officers taking samples to you and you having to break it all down for them and tell them the facts of the case and the results of your work. If you are thinking of the armed forces, that would be a good bridge to a police officer job, just make sure you enroll as an MP (Military Police). This will not only give you background but also a head-start on your studies, and EXPERIENCE. That is what they're looking for. And since Military life is more restrictive than ordinary civilian life (having been in the military myself in the past), you will gain a great skill set that will help ANY career you wanted to enter in the future. I know you are cognizant of the years this would add on to when you would enter the civilian job market, but then again, it might be your dream job, and you might be able to advance and learn more than you could as a civilian. Hope this helps!

Uhh...you have to start out as an officer and work your way up. You obviously have NO experience and would only be in the way at a crime scene. Don't take this the wrong way, I'm just pointing out what you already know about Law Enforcement...Nothing. Be patient and work your way there...you'll be a better cop for it!
