Can someone get into medical school with these requirements?
My girlfriend is going to be z senior and college and she is trying to get in to medical school. She's works harder than anyone I kow and because of of it she has a 3.95 gpa and a 4.0 in her sciences courses. She has received numerous scholarships and cast year was accepted to a paid internship at the university of Toledo for the summer. Only 2 people were accepted out of about 100 applicants. She also has participated in research since her freshman year and has her named published with a specific experiment that was published. Unfortunately she does not do well at standardized testing, she only received a 19 on her mcat. Can she get in to medical school with everything I just listed? They've already asked her for her secondary application and yes she's taken a Kaplan course. She also has letters of recommendation from highly respected doctors. Thanks for your input. I was asking for myself I have no idea what the minimums are. I'm looking for possible personal experience or someone knowledgeable on the subject. Thanks for wasting your time to just to be a dbag.

She still has ~20% chance of getting at least one acceptance according to standard acceptance charts, but she needs at least a 25 on the MCAT, to get above the 50% point. There's something very strange about getting a high GPA in science courses but a very low MCAT. She may find Medical School too difficult.

Some people are just not good at taking standardized tests. Believe it or not, every admissions office knows this and looks at other qualifications before making an initial judgment. She will be going on personal interviews and THAT is where she needs to shine. With a stellar interview, her GPA, rec letters, published research, and her extracurricular work, there should be at least one administrator who recognizes her gifts. Yes, the admission standards seem like they are set in stone, but there ARE ways around them. Tell her to work on her interview skills and really wow them when she goes in. If they like her enough, rules can sometimes be mysteriously bent. ;-)

I am working in Spain for 6 months, and my family has decided to come and visit me as their first vacation in Europe. They're letting me plan their stay, as I'm more familiar with the country than them. They're coming in the end of May. Originally, their trip was 7 days, but they extended it a day. I haven't filled that day with anything yet and am open to suggestions. Day 1: Depart United States Day 2: Arrive in Madrid (morning). Day in Madrid. Day 3: Day trip to Toledo (train). Day 4: Train to Zaragoza. Day in Zaragoza. Day 5: Day trip to Barcelona (bus). Day 6: Bus to Bilbao. Day in Bilbao. Day 7: Day trip to San Sebastian (bus). Day 8: Day 9: Bus to Madrid. Depart Madrid. Arrive in United States. Recommendations or suggestions for day 8? Or any changes I should make? Anything that doesn't say "day trip" isn't a day trip... It's pick up and move. So, the trip to Zaragoza isn't a day trip... It's go to Zaragoza. Reasons for the above places: Bilbao is where I'm living now. Zaragoza is where I lived previously. Toledo is my favorite place in Spain (personally). Madrid and Barcelona because, well, they're the two biggest tourist destinations. And if it is too hectic (which I realized as I was making it), what should be skipped?

I would of said that is o.k but try and get an early train to Toledo so you can see it but then be back and explore Madrid some more. Day 4: Train to Zaragoza. Day in Zaragoza. Day 5: Day trip to Barcelona (bus). I understand why you have done this. Good idea, however inless the bus is a lot cheaper than the train, or even check flight's. I would die of 6 hours of traveling in one day Day 6: Bus to Bilbao. Day in Bilbao. Day 7: Day trip to San Sebastian (bus). Day 8: maybe you can visit the French side then ? and make it into the Basque country. if it's Summer, then you've visted one of the best beaches Donostia. Arrive in United States. =) I think your trip should be o.k then So then maybe in day 8 it should be to relax or look around Bizkaia and Araba. I think you would be able to fit in Gorbeia or another Natural park in Bizkaia but inless they really want to. I wouldn't. I hope they have a nice trip

Okay, first, if you are living in Bilbao now, WHY are you putting it on your trip? You have one, sleep deprived day in Madrid. Madrid merits at least 3 fully awake days. You take a train to Zaragoza, and then "spend a day there." HOW long will the train take? And HOW early are you willing to get up, pack, and get to the train station? Day trip to Barça? Are you KIDDING? Again! At least 3 - 4 days! AT LEAST! What time are you departing Madrid? I'd just go there on Day 8, and spend a little time, there. Do you know people in these places? Are you going to try to hook up? Do you think they will be able to drop everything and see you then? (I found a whole week in Madrid wasn't enough to get together with two friends...and I went to one's family's restaurant TWICE! And still couldn't hook up with her!

Too many day trips, too much time spent on buses. A transatlantic flight is a killer, wether you slept during the flight or not, so the first day should be one of recovering and taking things easy. Most of those cities, specially Madrid and Barcelona are definetely worth more than one day. You are trying to go to too many places over a too short period of time. Skip at least 2 cities, cos you're gonna kill your beloved ones and they will leave Spain without knowing where exactly have they been to. Personally I'd write off Zaragoza, and Barcelona (a must see, yes, but too far from both Bilbao and Madrid, unless you go by plane). So, I'd stick to this; days 2,3 and 4, Madrid, day 5 Toledo, days 6,7 Bilbao, and days 7,8, San Sebastian and perhaps the countyside, or Biarritz, Hendaye in France, or Pamplona.

Your family will know more about the public transport system than anything else! How about staying at least 2/3 days in one place to soak up a bit of atmosphere and get to know the place a bit etc?

I think that your trip does sound hectic, but do-able... You'll just be traveling a lot and getting up early to make sure you're leaving yourself enough time to see these places. I have taken day trips to both Madrid and Barcelona from Zaragoza, and have seen a lot of things both times. Not everything, but a lot of things. I also have flown from the US multiple times and can run on adrenaline fine the first day, and after a good night's sleep, am fine by the next day. Maybe day 8 could be another day trip from Bilbao to, say, Santander. Or just spend it in Bilbao/Madrid relaxing and doing some more leisurely exploring. Have fun.

I am a Michigan resident currently attending the University of Toledo. I am a second-year student (with enough credits to be considered a Junior) with a GPA of 3.3. I am working on getting it back up to at least a 3.4 at the end of this (my final) semester. My GPA used to be 3.6, but due to a terrible experience in a Calculus class dropped a bit. I am a member of a few organizations, including the National Society of Collegiate Scholars, and all of my grades so far, except for two, are B or higher (one of those two is a C+, and the other is a passing grade). Before I went to UT, I attended a community college for one semester and had a GPA of 3.7 there. In high school, I took two AP courses in my junior year (received a 4 on both exams) and received a National Honor Society scholarship, among other awards. What are my chances?

Hell yeah! Go STATE! 3.3 should be fine future Spartan :) I know people who got in with 2.5's from HS... not saying you should. Although if you want to get into certain schools within the university you need higher GPAs. Your GPA never transfers, only credits, so when you transfer you will start fresh. I was in the Eli Broad Business College, and to get into that you need at least a 3.4 GPA. For accounting program you need at least a 3.5 GPA. But that's AFTER you get into State, plus most departments don't have any requirements either. Hope that helps. Good luck! State is so much fun, god I miss college, graduating has its perks but school was a blast hahah :P Btw, I mentioned the GPA req for colleges within the university because some majors are easier to get into than others. Plus if you're going in as a junior, you have to pick a major and be in a school. Hence, my advice is apply to a school easy to get into, like maybe school of human resources or sociology at MSU. Once you're in, you can always switch majors and stuff easily.

It doesn't matter what your HS GPA was. All that matters is what your current GPA is. I don't know what the average GPA requirement is at Michigan state university but your GPA should be higher then their average because you are a transfer student and it's always harder for transfer students. I knew someone with a GPA of 3.7 at Arcadia, she tried to transfer to Penn State to be closer to her family but they wouldn't take her.

I am currently living in a 2 bedroom apt. in Ohio, (Toledo) and have a month to month lease. Due to being laid off and my wife not making enough income we are 2 months past due on rent and received both a 10 and 3 day notice. They wanted us out by Thursday the 12th but I have yet to receive any court papers regarding an eviction. I'm thinking that either the Ohio laws might not require that for a month to month lease, or that they don't want to spend money to file and have us be here longer so they are trying to "bully" us out. I need some legal insight please. I'm not sure how the laws works in this situation. i can move out by this coming Tuesday. but not by tomorrow

EVICTIONS in Ohio on a month to month agreementt.~ In addition to any one of the notices described above, tenants are entitled to a three day notice, delivered to the tenant or at the premises, demanding the tenant to move out. This notice must include the following words: "You are being asked to leave the premises, if you do not leave, an eviction action may be initiated against you. If you are in doubt regarding your legal rights and obligations as a tenant, it is recommended that you seek legal assistance." This is not only a required notice, it is good advice. An eviction notice is the most serious legal problem most people will ever have. It forces a tenant out of a home, and costs the landlord money and lost rental income. Eviction records are public and can seriously hurt tenants' credit ratings and references. Landlords who fail to follow proper legal procedures can end up owing their tenants damages or delaying even a legitimate eviction for months. The Court will serve the tenant with a Summons by leaving it at the tenant's residence, by certified mail or personal delivery, notifying the tenant when and where to appear in court. The tenant is entitled to five working days between the service of the summons and the date of the trial. Stapled to the Summons will be the landlord's complaint usually prepared by the landlord's lawyer, asking the court to order the tenants to leave the premises and to pay any unpaid rent. The Summons also tells the tenants to contact a lawyer or the local Legal Aid Society. If the tenant does not show up for trial according to the instructions on the Summons, the court will probably order the tenant to move out and pay whatever rent is claimed to be unpaid. If tenants do not want to argue about their evictions but contest the amount of money that is claimed owed to their landlords, they must file a written Answer. The Answer must deny the amount owed and must be filed with the Court according to the instructions on the Summons. Ordinarily, if the tenants or their attorneys show up and raise questions about the landlord’s right to the eviction, the judge will postpone the trial for up to eight days, or more if the tenant pays a bond to protect the landlord’s interest. If the tenant fails to appear in court or the landlord wins the trial, the tenant usually still has up to ten days to voluntarily move out, depending upon what the judge orders. If the tenant does not leave voluntarily the tenant’s belongings will be moved and the tenant will be prohibited from returning. In most jurisdictions in Montgomery County the landlord must pay a fee to the bailiff or sheriff to lawfully remove the tenant from the premises, by force if necessary, and out the tenant’s belongings in storage. The moving and storage company doesn’t have to take all of the tenant’s property. Clothes, medicine, food, pictures, and damaged items are usually put in a dumpster. The tenant must pay all storage costs before the storage company will release the belongings from storage. After 3 days the storage company can sell the tenant’s property to pay the storage fees. In other jurisdictions, the tenant’s belongings are put on the curb. You can check with the clerk of courts to determine what is your local procedure.~

I was shopping there today in the Toledo, Ohio store. Showing up at 8am, I was able to nab the tv I wanted and get in line which was about 100 yards long. I was about 70 yards from the checkout counter where they only had 3 clerks working. We moved about 15 feet in 40 minutes?! I finally had to give up due to fatigue incurred in lines at other stores earlier this morning. I have purchased digital recorders, tvs, mp3 players, and a refrigerator here before. with each purchase taking far longer than it seemingly should. My question is this: "What is the cause of their ineptitude at the checkout counter?" I watched a guy with a microwave spend 1/2 hour at the counter. I commented on the situation to an employee near the door on my way out and he said he believed it was a success because there weren't any fights......yet.

It is not ineptitude, it is greed in hiring people to properly staff the store for this, as far as lines moving slowly, it could be the cashiers aren't properly trained and it takes them longer(store's fault) or a customer who starts asking questions after they get to the counter, not aking advantage of the sales people befor getting in line or maybe there card is declined and they are figuring another way to pay. Lots of possibilities, at least there was no fights. I would contact ABC wearhouse and see how they could remedy the situation/

Hi, I am an Ohio resident. I have a 3.5cgpa and a 3.4sgpa and I scored a 33 on the MCAT. I have 2 years of undergraduate research under my belt with two poster presentations and a second author on a publication. I have over 200 hours of community service at the local hospital in the Surgicare unit. I have tutored underprivledged children at a local ministry for almost two years and I have been a Supplemental Instruction leader (tutor) for General Chemistry for the last year. I am in a Pre-medical society club, biology club, and German club. I have served as vice president in the German club for the last year. I will be working in a nursing home all summer. I should have at least 4 really strong letters. I did poorly sophomore year but I have been on a upward trend ever since. I have over 100 hours of shadowing under a neurologist, orthopedic surgeon, and a doctor in family practice. I am told my personal statement is very strong. Since my stats aren't really that great, I wasn't exactly sure where to apply. I have compiled this list but I fear that it is too heavy with the better schools. Tell me what you think. So, my husband and I make a combined income of 70,000 dollars a year. He has worked at his job for 3 years and I have worked at my current job 2 months. We have a few late credit card payment but have recently paid off ALL credit card debts and saved 3,000 for a down payment on a house. About Community college rn vs techincal school

Community college rn vs techincal school?
I live in southern Michigan by Ohio and here in michgan we have a community college that has a very good rn program.. But I was almost set on it but many ppl has brought up Toledo school of practical nursig in Toledo oh which is only 30 min away, the out state cost or drive doesn't bother me but i've heard you can do the rn program through there and it's faster and wayyyyyy less competiton to get in. The community has roughly 600 aplicants and 40 are chosen each year. To where the technical school you can get right in. I was just wonderig if anyone knows more about the advantages/disadvantages of technical schools. I just don't want to waste time I want a carrerr as soon as possible n want to know I'm not working hard to just get denied.

There are no federal programs for first-time buyers and most local programs ended a few years ago. You'll need to find out if your city has any specific programs (some still do). No program helps you around having no credit - but it might help you with some down payment money. You will not be approved by a lender without decent-to-good credit -- unless you can find a private investor willing to loan you the money (unlikely). Good luck to you.

In order to purchase a house of any kind you would need a down payment as well as a credit score that would allow you to apply for and be approved for a mortgage loan. Before you bother your realtor friend the best thing you might do is apply for a FHA mortgage loan with a FHA lender.. FHA has a program where you might get the down payment from relatives, friends and charities. The down payment could be as low as 3.5%. If the price of the house is as you say then the down payment would be around $2,360.00. If your offer is below the asking price your down payment would be less. The down payment from friends or relatives would have to be a gift. It can not be an under the counter loan. Whom ever give you the money would have to sign a letter indicating that this is a gift and not a loan that you would have to repay. You, in all probability would be required to come up with closing cost of your real estate purchase. This could be around $1500.00 which you would have to show as an asset in your bank account, 401K or some other financial instrument that you would have immediate access to and would have use of these forms. Call a mortgage broker that do FHA mortgage loans. Once approved contact your real estate friend. If you are approved then everything else would fall into place. You and your girlfriend should make an agreement between the two of you as to the division and who would live and pay for the property if things do not work out between the two of you as you plan. If you don't have money or credit then what is your question? Even if the property was given to you how would you keep up with expenses? The two of you need to focus on the next two years of getting things right. Steady income that is reported to the IRS, money in the bank, little or no debt, credit score that will allow you to apply for a loan. In two years you could have money for a down payment, be married, have a good credit score and be ready to look for a house to buy. It is better to wait and do the above. You will let this house go but there will be another one that hopefully will be in better condition.

How can I make money as a poor college student in serious debt?
I'm living on my own and my parents aren't paying for school. I live in the Toledo, OH area and was originally from Monroe, MI so jobs around here are hard to find. Even when you can find them, they only pay 7 dollars per hour and they don't give you enough hours (not that I can take them anyway, being a full time student). I did work one of those jobs at one point, and after rent was paid I still didn't have enough to pay my other bills, so it seemed a bit fruitless. Now I'm living off of loans I know I won't be able to pay back, and I don't want to take out too much because I don't want to endanger my cosigner. I'm in a lot of debt because of medical bills and some other things I probably shouldn't have done but seemed like a good idea at the time, like joining a sorority (not drugs or shopping or anything). I need to make money fast to get this stuff taken care of. I don't want to whore myself out, and I've thought about selling drugs, but I'd rather do something a little more rewarding and... legal? My house has no heat and there are roaches in it and the landlord won't do anything about it. My life is shit. Thanks for putting up with my bitching, I don't mean to do it.

you should sell your belongings on craigslist or offer them to your friends. You can also try being a gogo dancer at clubs (if there are any) or you can collect cans and recyclables. You should go to churches or other places where you can get food (and that should spare you some money)...other than that I say dont do the drug thing ever..imagine if u get caught? that will hurt your chances of getting a good job since you are pursuing a degree. Also, talk to your intructors and let them know that you can clean their homes, wash their cars, etc and they should have some jobs available.....

For reliable information about pharmacy check the website of the AACP - that is the official national organization that coordinates info about all accredited US schools of pharm. In theory, at least, you can get into pharm school from community college, but the competition is tough. You will need excellent grades in all the prerequiste courses. Usually prereqs are a year of bio with lab, a year of general chem with lab, a year of organic chem with lab, and some other courses. There is a big demand for pharmacists so the money for pharmacists is great - they make about $80,000 a year or more. But there are only about 80 colleges of pharm in the USA (out of more than 1500 universities) and many of them are rather small, so there are just not very many spaces for students who want to enter these schools. That's why you need to have top grades and top recommendations, as well as a high score on the difficult PCAT test (similar to SAT but much harder). The courses in pharm school are pretty hard and involve a lot of difficult materials - kind of like very advanced biology and chem. Becoming a pharmacist is a great career, but you need to be dedicated and hardworking and smart to make this dream come true. Good luck.

Where should I go to college?
I'm going to be a senior in high school and I want to major in marketing. I have a 4.3 GPA, a 29 on the ACT and a handful of extracurriculars. My mom wants me to stay in state (OH) because it's cheaper, but i'd love to go to a bordering state. My dream is to live in Chicago and work for a large company but in order to do that, I want to get into a school with a good business program. Here's the colleges I've been looking at so far: Miami University (Oxford, OH) Ohio State DePaul University Loyola University Purdue University University of Pittsburgh University of Cincinatti Butler University Syracuse University University of Toledo Indiana University Freed- Hardeman University Lipscomb University The last two are christian universities. I'd love to go to a christian school, but I'm afraid I won't get the type of job I want if I don't attend a very well known business school. If I don't attend a christian school, I definately want to be a part of a larger campus ministry. Also, I've heard that Miami University is very preppy, and I'm not sure how well I'd fit in there. Sorry this was so long, I just don't know who to talk to about all of this. If you have any suggestions on where else I should look, please let me know! All of this is really stressing me out.

Ohio State and University of Cincinnati. Stay in state- save your money. You will need to go to grad school anyways and that will add to your total education bill. You live in a state with good schools- use them!

haha I'm in a very similar position as you, I'm an upcoming high school senior, so I actually am not the person to be answering, but you mentioned that you don't know who to talk to. If you have a favorite teacher in your school, or your guidance counselor definitely should be able to help you. Also, do you know any friends who are already in college? Maybe try talking to them too.

Miami should be your first choice, since you want to go into marketing. That school is highly respected in the world of Ohio business, and you'll make some very valuable contacts there. Visit the campus and take their tour. You'll probably like it. OSU and Cincinatti are also good schools, but I don't think they have any special marketing/business reputations. Out of state, the University of Pennsylvania (not Pittsburgh) is the #1 ranked marketing school in the nation. Indiana is also among the best schools. (US News 2008 ranking)

Depends on how you define "good." To be honest, I don't think it's going to be absolutely vital to go to a name-brand school as an undergrad. That having been said, there are a couple schools (prestigious according U.S. News & World Report's rankings) that aren't that much farther away that you could try, most notably Michigan. (I'm using USN&WR simply because it's the one that most people look at, much to my chagrin.) If you're OK with attending your state school's rival, I do know that the business school is pretty respected and that many people get placed into well-known companies, but I assume that's the case for many business schools; business students are usually really driven. Certainly, in-state schools are probably cheaper, but I think that with a background like yours, you'd be eligible for a pretty good financial aid package, which may or may not include scholarships. I'd probably restrict myself to a couple out-of-state schools and a bunch of in-state schools if price is a big factor for your family. Not to say that the in-state schools aren't as good; they may actually provide a better, more individualized learning experience than Penn, Pitt, OSU, Mich, etc. The big-name schools are generally research institutions, so a lot of the faculty is hired with research in mind; teaching may be a secondary concern. That having been said, I personally feel as if you're buying too much into the prestige thing. It helps with connections, true, but getting a job is just as much about advertising yourself as it is your social capital, so I don't feel that going to a smaller school or a Christian school hurts you as much as you seem to think it will. If you want a compromise, you could look at schools like Wheaton College (highly-respected Christian alma mater of Billy Graham) or... Carleton College (A book I read I think said that Carleton has cranked out the most CEOs as of a few years ago, but my memory's fuzzy). Of course, it's going to depend at least partially on your drive to succeed at whatever school and in whatever jobs you end up in. As far as an on-campus fellowships go, even if you go to a Christian school, I think it's definitely worth your time to join a fellowship. I have friends at Wheaton who find their fellowship (Koinonia) a much more intimate expression of their faith than just heading to the school-required stuff. Personally, though a couple conferences run by InterVarsity, I've gotten to know the OSU IV staff and the revived Pitt IV chapter, and they strike me as being very solid. A couple of other friends from my time at Mich really like Campus Crusade and the Navigators (This guy was with Mich's IV during med school and Navigators at UCSD during undergrad), so I'd heartily recommend those if they're on whatever campus up you end up on. If you go on college visits, see if you can schedule a time with a campus staff worker and talk to him/her about the group's beliefs, pros/cons, and atmosphere. Most of the info (or at least a contact page) is available online, so it shouldn't be too hard to do. College is one of the most influential times in your life, and if you want to grow your faith, it's gotta be nurtured well. If I can (try to) help in any other way, feel free to send me a message.

Okay now I know there are other similar questions on here but not what i'm looking for. I'm 17 years old and a Junior in High School. I have a Accum GPA of 3.7 and Take mostly honors/ Post-Secondary classes. I am your typical high school student, football, basketball, baseball, and some clubs and NHS. I wanna know, what does a kid like me do to become a pharmacist? It has always been my dream and I always research ways to better myself. I live in Parma, Ohio and I am considering attending Toledo, OSU, Kent or Akron (Kent & Akron dont have Pre-Pharm but a medical school that runs off of it after 4 years) So what should I do? Well I work at Giant Eagle too... I will speak about the Utoledo program....you will start out pre-pharm and take two years of undergraduate classes. These entail your gen chem, organic chem, bio's and physics as well as calc 1 and 2 as well as anatomy/phys. You will then apply for the "professional division" and if accepted (must maintain very high grades) you will start as a first year professional pharmacy student and continue for four years until graduation as a PharmD where you will be able to work as a pharmacist. UFindlay has a program that is also 6 years and you are guarenteed a spot when you get in after HS. Kent/Akron go through NEOUCOM and require you to apply similar to Utoledo. It is important to say that for all three of them if you dont get in after your second year you can apply again. OSU requires you to graduate and then apply to the pharm school as a graduate program and so takes 8 years similar to a medical school. Just to let you know i am starting med school but i can answer most questions related to pharmacy as i work there now.

There are 2 options: BS in Pharmacy - cannot prescribe medication to patients. Doctor of Pharmacy - can prescribe medication to patients. Most students will go the pre-pharmacy route in college, get some volunteer or work experience and then apply to the Doctorate program. A BS in Pharmacy is not required. Any major is acceptable so long as you take the pre-pharmacy list of courses. To clarify, I am an Ohio resident. I am 18 years old and I recently graduated High School (2010). I turned 18 before I graduated High School. Yesterday my mother (whom I am a dependent too) and I had an appointment with the Department of Job and Family Services. The took away my TANF benefit of 259. Took all my food stamps. But left me with my Health Insurance as I'm enrolled in the University of Toledo. What benefits can I get? If I am my mothers dependent aren't I recognized for food stamps? How can they take my food stamps away before allowing me to secure Federal Work Study? Is this legal? I have so many questions but the Department of Job and Family Services in Lucas County won't answer my questions. How are my mother and myself suppose to survive and eat together? She will be given a hundred and something in food stamps. How can this feed two people?

if you're a dependant, she needs to get you relisted as one and her food stamps should increase considerably. There's other things you should be able to apply for such as pell grants. They're not alot, but every little bit helps.

You should be able to. Tell DHS that you are 18 now and you want to apply for food stamps for yourself. Tell them that you and your mother eat separetly. DO NOT tell them you are a college student, or you will not be eligible. I do not understand why they wont answer your questions that seems strange to me. Another thing that you could do is call up some local chuches that may have food pantrys, it really has helped me out alot. Alot of churches also have donated funds to help out poor people who can not afford to pay thier bills. This has also helped me when I was in need of assistance. Also since you are enrolled in college you should be eligible for finacial aid. About have way into the semester you will get your refund check that should help also a bunch!!!!!!!!!!!

College students are generally not entitled to food stamps or cash assistance. Once you are 18 and have graduated from HS,you are no longer a dependent and are removed from the family benefits. You are now an adult and are responsible for yourself. Time to get a job.

About Finding time for exercise

Finding time for exercise?
For the last few months I have been trying to start a healthier lifestyle. I'm 5'6 and 130 pounds which to some might seem ideal, but I am very unhealthy. I have high cholesterol, digestive problems, am tired all the time etc. I have been doing ok with the eating, but can not seem to find time to exercise. I work 6 days a week 10-12 hours a week ( I am a marketing professional for a private country club and the members and club are my life, which I love and wouldn't consider leaving). I can't find much time for working out, does anyone have any sugesstions on fun quick workouts. I really hate the gym so anything outdoors or in my home would be great. I live in Toledo, OH so it is winter here, meaning I can't get out as much. Please help I feel unmotivated and uneducated!

It's good, brisk, fun exercise that you can do at home or even take the idea and go outside. She has so many videos and options that you're bound to find one that works... Well im a freshman in college (University of Toledo) and all day today i pretty much was contemplating on whether to pursue Pharmacy, Med School, or Aerospace engineering. Well the side of my thats obsessed with airplanes took over and im pretty much set on aerospace engineering. problem is my university doesnt have an aerospace engineering major, but it does have a mechanical engineering at it is one of the top engineering schools in the country (University of Toledo). If i go through with mechanical engineering which i hear is pretty similair to aerospace, can i expect to work with aircraft in my career? Can mech engineers get the same careers as aerospace? How can I find a new doctor?
I have adhd, my doctor for the past 8 years went out of the country for the year. He gave me three referrals (all he felt comfortable with, even though i asked for more). The ones he gave me were ungodly expensive ranging from 400-600 dollars an hour. I am in grad school which equalls broke. I take adderall currently and it does an alright job. However I have about a weeks work from the final script he gave me. I desperately need to find a doctor that will listen and respectful. I live in toledo ohio but am willing to travel for an affordable, reasonable doctor (I would prefer family doctor-I don't have one, because they are cheaper than psychiatrists. So if you live anywhere in Toledo, Southern Michigan, or other closer cities in Ohio and have any names, ideas, or anything at all on either family doctors or psychiatrists, please let me know! I don't have much time until I am out of meds and being in grad school, I cannot let that happen! So please help!

Assalaam Alaykum ha rahamtu Allah. Okay so I'm in college. Today I got my 4th semester enrollment form and I owe quite a bit of money and I only have so much money in my account. Anyway I'm looking for a job to pay all my bills ($100.00 a month for food, $23.99 a month for phone, $9.95 a month for internet, and $81.23 a month for school). My husband is back home trying to get a job. He has a job but the company hasn't told him when he is going to start. But the town I live in is anti-Muslim, as are the other 6 towns near my mother's. We have Muslims to the south, Muslims in the central part of the state, and obviously Muslims in Cleavland and Toledo. My grandmother and mother are convinced if I do not get a job, that it is my fault because I wear hijab and am Muslim. So I know my chances of getting a job are small without facing discrimination, I do not drive by the way so I cannot drive to a job. I'd be living with my mother on the days I work. My grandmother and mother wre talking (I do not know what exactly about me as I was in my room) but my grandmother said to my mother that I would need "appropriate" clothes in order to work. I know hijab is an obligation and I do not want to remove my hijab just to get a job to pay my school tuition and my other bills. I am wondering if it is haraam to remove hijab when you know you will not get hired anywhere if you wear it because everyone around you is anti-Muslim. I won't be able to prove discrimination either, as I'm the only Muslim that I know of in 7 towns (4 towns near my mother plus the small village she lives in, not counting the town my grandmother lives in and the town close to her). I'm basically prepared to deal with blatant discrimination for being Muslim and a hijabi (I'm an American white Muslimah not that it matters when you live in such a biased area) and am prepared to not be allowed to pray while at work.

I would not sacrifice my Deen for the life of this world becuase I've got faith in Allah(SWT) Do not give up so easily I live 1 state next to you and people are anti-muslim here too. Do not give up on finding work. I would suggest you pray Istikharah for guidance from Allah (SWT) and be vigilant about your prayers. Your prayers are your safeguard from Shaytan and the haraam things and they are one of the things which seperate muslims from the nonmuslims. Please I urge you not to remove your hijaab and persevere for the sake of your Deen. If you need help finding work why not check out a temp agency?

Well, if you are 100% sure you cannot find a job with hijab then it becomes a matter of necessity and *maybe* you could remove hijab (still dress modestly) until you have enough money to pay for your living. However, I think you should try harder and not write yourself off as hopeless. I'm sure there is at least one place that will hire you. Moreover, why isn't your husband providing anything? Salam alykum, I know how your situation is I had went through the same thing looking for jobs and being discriminated from jobs, but all you can do is stand your ground, as long as your a good worker and have a positive attitude and carry yourself well then people will look beyond the hijab! show them how Muslimsa re supposed to be. I would not remove the hijab I don't think that there is any acception to remove it in any situation. The town I lived in I was literally the only Muslim and I got hired at a couple of places I even got hired in at Victoria's secret and I was wearing abaya when I applied and worked there 3 years wearinglong black skirt and lose blazer jacket and hijab! . Insha'allah you will find something and Allah will reward you in the end.

Well how much of an increase will it be and what aspects of his business will get taxed? Those are questions that are unanswered by your comment. People are too smart to be thrown by the whole "raise taxes" bit. The fact of the matter is that the US has been borrowing money like crazy to finance two wars and has neglected the infrastructure needs and future obligations it owes to the American people. Something has to change or else the country will go bankrupt. The low tax rates of the past administration have been bankrolled by unprecedented foreign debt. John McCain says he will stop spending - of course not in Iraq or in the Defense Department or to giant agri-businesses who claim to be "farmers". So no Obama does not want to destroy small businesses.

I don't think you understand that this is income tax we're talking about here. An individual person's income, not a business' net or gross income. If a small, unincorporated, sole proprietorship, after paying all expenses and all employees, purchasing new inventory, etc., has over $0.25M left over, and the owner wants to pay himself that, well he fills out a special income tax form and pays taxes on his income just like everyone else. Now if an unincorporated sole proprietor has a quarter million dollars a year after running his business, I would say he's doing pretty frickin' well. If he wants to use that money to hire more employees or otherwise expand his business, he is free to do so, and HE WON'T GET TAXED ON IT because it will not be part of his personal income - it will be a business expense. So it will not affect the person's ability to grow their business AT ALL! Bring on the thumbs down from the people who don't care about the truth and rationality.

Well, if the poor are making more than $250,000 then I guess the Obama tax plan would about kill them, I mean they would have to pay an addition 5% or so in taxes, I am sure that would do them in.

Looks like you are a bit misinformed. His plan does not increase tax on small businesses taking in $250,000. His plan increases taxes increases taxes only on small businesses with over $250,000 profit, so it looks like your little scenario is a fabrication. BTW the $250,000 threshold will exclude 98% of small businesses and the 3% increase would amount to $7,500 not enough to trigger the massive lay offs suggested by the Republican line of thinking.

Hi, I am soon going to be graduating from the University of Toledo with an Honors degree in Finance. My GPA is currently a 3.5. I would like to become a financial analyst, but definitely not in Toledo! How should I go about moving to New York (a primary market) or somewhere on the east coast when they know nothing really of my school? Also, it is obviously difficult to up and move to an area and not being able to find a job. I realize that New York is going to be extremely competitive and full of Ivy league students. I could do my MBA right out of college, but would prefer to get work experience and go to a top school like Dartmouth or Cornell. I grew up in Bklyn, went to undergrad in NY, got a job in NYC went back to get my MBA (top program) in NY, went through a couple more jobs and then decided to move to Boston - smaller city and more manageable but still fun and very smart. You have a rough road my friend. You need to consider the current market and talent pool that places like NYC have. Market is tough and you'll be competing with others who have either experience or a better education (or more likely probably both) - don't mean to be rough on you, just playing it straight. In my opinion, this should be your plan: Stay in Toledo and get a job with the best company you can (most well known). Think banking. Hopefully getting a financial analyst position. Stay for about 3-5 yrs progressing into senior analyst or something. All the while keeping your eye on the prize. Stay sharp, read the Wall Street Journal and study for the GMAT. You have time so nothing too intense but use the time for practice tests and to really absorb the concepts and information. If you do well on the GMAT and have 3 yrs of experience, with a 3.5 GPA, you should be an OK candidate for some good schools. You can google top MBA programs and see the average GMAT scores - can you match them? Or get higher? You may need a higher GMAT to balance you with other candidates that have stronger credentials in other areas. Which schools to apply to? THe one's in NYC or the ones from NYC that recruit at the schools (you can find out what companies recruit there if you contact the program and ask, or on their websites). I don't have a high opinion of Cornell, they are OK but are far from NYC (they are in Ithaca NY). Think NYU, Wharton (In PA but NY companies recruit there alot), Columbia, etc. Check the top 10 or 20 MBA programs because that is where the companies recruit from most. Boston of course has some top programs too (Harvard, MIT, etc.) Alternatively, after 3 years or so, you will have experience and can apply to some places in NYC. Hopefully, the market will be better after 3 years and your experience will help your candidacy. You'll have to take a step back though because NY has a higher cost of living and meeting your expenses will be rough so staying in Toledo will be attractive. Most important thing for you now I think is to get some experience at a well known company and make sure to do your best on the GMAT's. THat will help you get into a better MBA program than you could now. Best of luck.
